In our class
we read a book titled Have you Filled a Bucket Today? We discussed
in our class what is considered a bucket filler and a bucket dipper. A
bucket filler is someone who treats others with respect and makes others feel
good about themselves. A bucket dipper is doing the opposite and empties a
persons bucket by not being kind. Each student has their own bucket and
gets to place a warm fuzz (pom-poms) when they use a character trait,
use a kelso choice, fill someone else's bucket by saying something positive,
being kind, and following the school and classroom rules.
When a student gets 10 warm fuzzies in their bucket he/she will get a gotcha
ticket. Gotcha tickets are given for showing excellent character traits in
our school. I find that my students really enjoy being a bucket filler.
