Our class will use a B.E.E. Folder to help us learn how to organize our materials and stay organized throughout the year.

What is an B.E.E. Folder?
B.E.E. is an acronym for Bring Everything Everyday.  These are 3-prong folders, put together by the teacher that has everything students and parents need to keep up with what is going on at school.  No more wrinkled papers in the bottom of our backpacks, lost notes, and no more searching the house to find paper to write the teacher a note.  Everything is in one folder!

Why are they important?
The B.E.E. folder will help us learn how to organize our materials and stay organized throughout the year!  I hope that you will find it very helpful in managing important papers from the school, lunch menus, newsletters, homework, notes, etc.  This is a very important part of my teaching because it is a means of communicating with you.

How will they be used?
Each morning the class will go through their binders as a group.  Book order money is collected during this time, important papers are turned in, and children will let me know if they have a note from home.

Please see that your child returns their B.E.E. Folder daily.
The B.E.E. folder is a great way to keep us both organized and encourage communication.  It will also encourage responsibility in the students and if any items are lost/damaged during the school year, it will be the responsibility of the family to replace those items.  While we will be discussing the components of this binder in class, please also discuss it with your child, reinforcing the importance of staying organized to prevent any problems in the future.

This is where you should put all money that is brought to school (field trips, lunch, book orders) so it doesn't get "lost" in the bottom of the backpack.  This is also a good place to put doctor's notes for excused absences.  Students should take the money out once at school to turn in to the teacher. *Please do not use it for putting pencils, erasers, or any other small items.

The behavior sheet will have your child's name on top with the current month.  I will put the color your child is on for each day.  We are using "Go for the Green" behavior stick system in our classroom.  The student is to change their color stick if their behavior is inappropriate in class.  If the child stays in green for the whole day that means that he/she had an Excellent day at school!  If your child is in blue, purple, or red at the end of the day, I will send a note to let you know why he/she had to move his/her stick.  If students “choose” not to follow the classroom rules, then they also “choose” to lose certain privileges.

In the first pocket you will find your child's homework packet.  Homework needs to be completed each night and returned to school in the same pocket by Friday.  Please make sure that you write your signature at the bottom of the homework cover to verify that you have checked your child's homework and it is complete.  In the second pocket you will find important papers from the school.  Please check daily, there might be some papers that may need to be signed and returned to school the next day.  Please remove and read all of these papers promptly; they will keep you in touch with important news and events that are happening at Robert E. Lake. This pocket should be cleaned out each evening.

In the homework helper I have placed certain papers that should always stay in the binder.  You will find: an alphabet chart, a 100 number chart, word wall, shapes, colors, and more.  Throughout the school year I will be placing more helpful papers in this section.  Your child can use these if he/she needs more help with certain areas of their homework.

Here you will find a section with paper to serve as our family/teacher communication log. Here you and I will be able to write special or important notes to each other about your child. Please stress to your children that this is ONLY for the teacher and parents to write in.  Please tell your child to let me know when there is a note from you in the log. I will not have time to check each communication log for notes each day.  I ask that you leave any notes that we may write in it so that we can look back and remember any communications we may have had.
